Jennifer Leeper for State Representative

Education

My professional career has been committed to improving educational outcomes for all children. I was a school administrator in an NYC elementary school where I served as the Director of Special Education and managed our data-driven instructional model. I then put that on-the-ground experience to work in crafting policy for the CT State Dept. of Education in the Performance Office. I led the state's accountability system reform and also managed the state's largest data collection.

In the legislature, I've served on the Education Committee since I was first elected. I was the Vice-Chair in 2023 and 2024 and served as the Committee Co-Chair in 2025 and 2026.

I'm a strong believer in:

  • Ensuring every child has what they need to feel safe, a sense of belonging, to have their passions and curiosities fostered, and to be academically challenged
  • Holding up the integrity of the teaching profession, recruiting more people to the profession, and ensuring our educators have the tools they need to support their students
  • Preparing students for meaningful and productive lives
